What You Can Expect at Your Child’s First Dental Visit

Your child’s first dental visit is an important time for them as they journey through their oral health milestones. The Dentists for Kids team in San Antonio, Texas, are here to help your child have positive experiences when they visit our practice to set the stage for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

According to The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children should be seen by a pediatric dentist within six months of the emergence of their first tooth. When you bring your little one in to see our caring dentists, you can expect the following:

After welcoming you and your little one, we will discuss your baby’s health history and that of the family. We will review your baby’s oral habits, such as pacifier use, and check to see where they are in their development. Their teeth and gums will be checked, and we will let you know where their next teeth should be erupting.

We address your infant’s oral hygiene needs, helpful products to use to meet those needs as well as their dietary needs for healthy teeth and gums. This is also the time for you to feel free and ask us any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s smile. And finally, we will schedule their next appointment.

Of course, you can always speak with a member of our friendly team if you have questions or concerns, by reaching out to us at 210-696-2563. Our dentists, Dr. Peter Gurr and Dr. Scott Jensen, along with the rest of our team are delighted to be part of your child’s oral development!
